Steven Schack is assistant project director of the Northwest Leaders in Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment Program at the School of Social Work.
Since the early 1990s, he has worked in addiction treatment at Evergreen Treatment Services and at the Fifth Avenue Hospital Addiction Recovery Center, both in Seattle. He has also trained clinical and supervisory staff members in motivational interviewing techniques at regional clinics and treatment centers. From 1996-2005, he was a practicum instructor directing clinical student internships at the School of Social Work’s MSW program. He has been a guest lecturer at the UW Department of Sociology and an instructor for the Alcohol/Drug Studies Program at Bellevue College.
Schack earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Oregon and has completed post-MSW study in mental health, research methodology and social welfare policy.
