Nathan Fowler has more than ten years of experience working in digital education and online learning. He's worked as a content author, instructional designer, production manager, and marketing writer for a variety of online educational companies that aim to appeal to learners of all styles.

Nathan has a passion for creating content that keeps the learner engaged through purposeful interactivity and strong visual design. He received his BA in English from the University of Washington. When he's not working, he enjoys writing fiction, especially books for young readers

Thom Fain is a writer & reporter who has linked up with the Alliance through the UTemp progra to assist with day-to-day upkeep of the course catalog and maintaining site content. A sociology major out of Texas State University, in his free time Thom enjoys hiking, camping, baseball and democracy.

Melissa Lee Marsh

With over 20 years of social justice, non-profit management, public policy, program development, and direct service delivery experience, Melissa was previously the Director of Programming at the IF Project - implementing reentry programming at the Washington State Women’s Prison. A vocal advocate for people with HIV/AIDS since the 1990’s, she led an innovative LGBTIQ youth program at Boulder County Public Health. She earned Boulder County PFLAG’s activist of the year award in 2011.

Marny Lombard

Marny leads Washington higher education suicide prevention task force and manages organizational needs for the June 2016 higher ed conference. Since losing her college-age son to suicide, Marny has worked tirelessly for suicide prevention and depression awareness. She received Forefront’s 2015 Tina Orwell Public Service Award for her service to Forefront, Zero Suicide in Eastern Washington and related efforts.

Formerly the executive director of Communities in Schools in Seattle, Shira joins the Forefront team with extensive school experience. She also brings a keen knowledge of fundraising, budgeting, and personnel management to her new role managing the education programs.

The Indigenous Wellness Research Institute (IWRI) partnered with my tribal community when I was working as an Alcohol & Drug Counselor Trainee.  Through this partnership opportunity I was able to learn the fundamentals and importance of  community based participatory research and human subjects.
