Lifelong learning for social work professionals is important in a rapidly changing world. The School works closely with theĀ UW Continuum College to provide expertise and develop educational opportunities specifically targeted to human services professionals. These comprehensive certificate programs are:

  • Gerontology Certificate Program: Helps students better serve and understand the needs of older adults as it relates to housing, recreation, personal care and community issues.
  • Guardianship Certificate Program: Provides the skills needed to work as a professional guardian of developmentally disabled or elderly adults who have diminished capacity to care for themselves.

The University offers other certificate programs that social work practitioners will find beneficial as part of their career growth:

  • Nonprofit Management: Targets professionals seeking to pursue or advance a career in a nonprofit setting, such as a hospital or social service agency.
