Redefining what's possible.
Our School offers a 10-month full-time MSW Advanced Standing program for students with an undergraduate degree is social welfare from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The program begins in mid-summer, preparing students with foundation classes not previously covered in their undergraduate program. In the fall, advanced standing students join the second year of the full-time Day program with the same concentration options and a wide range of field education opportunities.
In summer, advanced standing students attend classes up to five days a week in summer quarter. During autumn, winter and spring quarters, students attend classes for one to two days per week and are typically in the field for three full days per week. Electives are scheduled in daytime slots as well as on weekday evenings and Saturdays.
To be eligible for the Advanced Standing Program, applicants must have graduated within the last five years from a U.S. baccalaureate program in social work or social welfare accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or a Canadian bachelors level social work program accredited by CASSW (CASWE). Advanced Standing candidates must have a grade of at least 3.0 in each required BSW/BASW course OR a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher in the required courses.
Students who have a BSW or BASW degree from a social work program outside of the USA may have their undergraduate degree evaluated by the International Social Work Degree Recognition and Evaluation Service. If upon evaluation, the degree is considered consistent with CSWE requirements, the student can apply for Advanced Standing if all other eligibility requirements are met.
