Social Work Practice With Latinx Communities

Social Work Practice with Latinx Communities, formally known as ‘The Latinx Specialization’ was established in 2017 with its first student cohort graduating in 2019. This traineeship offers targeted skill-building for Specialized MSW students committed to the health and well-being of Latinx communities. The program equips students to be effective practitioners by deepening their understanding of practice models and interventions that resonate with Latinx individuals, families and communities.

Students participating in the Social Work Practice with Latinx Communities complete their specialized field placement at a field site with a strong commitment to serving Latinx individuals, families and community while advancing and supporting the student’s learning and growth. Students in this Traineeship also participate in a year-long seminar that integrates theory and practice by enlisting the expertise of Latinx community field instructors, leaders and partners who share their knowledge and insights.
