The UW School of Social Work funds two Student Information Specialists (SIS), who are current MSW students that also serve as part-time student ambassadors with the School of Social Work admissions office. Prospective students are welcome and encouraged to reach out to an SIS (except over summer quarter, as SISs are not available mid-June to mid-September). They look forward to meeting you, and serve as a resource to answer your questions about concentrations, classes, student life, housing, Seattle, the application process, funding, and more!

Office location: SSW Admissions, Room 023 (ground floor)

Hometown: Anaheim, California

MSW concentration area: I am in the Community Centered Integrative Practice concentration and I chose it because it focuses on communities and what they already know and do to help their people thrive. I like how intersectional it is, how we use micro, meso, and macro skills, and the global lens. It’s super cool!

Alma mater: University of Southern California, BA ’14 in Religion with minors in Sociology, German, and Humanities

Favorite thing to do in Seattle: I like to go to Lake Washington and check out Mount Tahoma. I also love exploring my neighborhood, First Hill.

Social Issues I am passionate about: reproductive justice, transformative justice, healing justice, youth empowerment, prison abolition, and immigration rights.

MSW practicum site: The Well on Beacon (a collaborative health project located in North Beacon Hill). Their mission: to create a space for culturally-relevant care that is responsive to our communities’ needs. As a collective, we strive to uplift people of color by fostering a (re)connection to past, present, and future generations through our healing legacies and community connections.
