Our world-class faculty creates an exciting, enriched and empowered space for learning, research and service—nine members have been honored with the UW Distinguished Teaching Award and 12 were elected to the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare. Highly diverse and widely recognized, our faculty bring a scientific perspective to some of the most pressing social issues of our day, along with a deep commitment to nurturing culturally competent and skilled social work professionals.

Charlotte Sanders honored with 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Award
Assistant Teaching Professor Charlotte Sanders was honored as the School of Social Work recipient of the 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award at a ceremony on January 15th. Sanders, who serves as the Master of Social Work program director, was chosen for her commitment to the social justice principles of Dr. King and commitment to serving those in need.

Carrie Seaberg joins SSW staff as Program Support Supervisor
The School of Social Work is pleased to officially welcome Carrie Seaberg as the new program support supervisor for the Facilities and Office Services team. In this role, Carrie will support both facilities and event services, partner on facilities projects, and work closely with the Dean and his immediate staff on community events.
