Sue Sohng, a beloved and distinguished professor, retires
After 25 years, Sue Sohng, one of School’s most distinguished and beloved faculty members, will retire at the end of June. Sue joined the faculty as an assistant professor in 1991, and has been a force for social justice at the School ever since. “To say the School community will miss Sue is a profound understatement,” says Dean Eddie Uehara.

NIH awards $675,000 to Gillian Marshall for study on financial hardship and health
The National Institutes of Health awarded Gillian Marshall, assistant professor of social work at UW Tacoma, more than $675,000 to study the complex and previously unexplored relationship between financial hardship and mental and physical health. The Great Recession of 2008 altered the financial well-being of millions of people, especially older Americans.
