The School’s Staff Council Awards Jon Torres Annual Scholarship
Every spring, the School of Social Work Staff Council has the distinct pleasure of awarding a scholarship to support a current or former School staff member pursuing education in social work or a related field. This year, the council has selected Jon Torres, who is beginning his studies as a School of Social Work PhD candidate in autumn 2024.
Mark Bello Wins 2024 Distinguished Staff Award
Mark Bello has won the Mary Grembowski Staff of the Year Award, recognizing his exceptional contribution the School of Social Work community and his commitment to its social justice mission.
Priyanka Doni Naresh will support HR and fiscal teams
Priyanka Doni Naresh joined the School of Social Work’s H.R/Payroll and Fiscal Teams in March, 2024 as a payroll-fiscal specialist. She supports our HR and fiscal teams in costing and accounting efforts underway with Workday.
Teaching recognized for excellence
Our world-class faculty creates an exciting, enriched and empowered space for learning, research and service—nine members have been honored with the UW Distinguished Teaching Award and 12 were elected to the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare. Highly diverse and widely recognized, our faculty bring a scientific perspective to some of the most pressing social issues of our day, along with a deep commitment to nurturing culturally competent and skilled social work professionals.
