Barb Woods, cherished staff member and esteemed grants manager, died Oct. 10.
Barb Woods, a 26-year School of Social Work veteran, passed away in her sleep on Oct. 10, 2024, age 71. Barb started her professional career at the UW in 1982 before joining the School of Social Work as a grants manager in the Office of the Dean.
The School’s Staff Council awards Jon Torres annual scholarship
Every spring, the School of Social Work Staff Council has the distinct pleasure of awarding a scholarship to support a current or former School staff member pursuing education in social work or a related field. This year, the council has selected Jon Torres, who is beginning his studies as a School of Social Work PhD candidate in autumn 2024.
Mark Bello wins 2024 distinguished staff award
Mark Bello has won the Mary Grembowski Staff of the Year Award, recognizing his exceptional contribution the School of Social Work community and his commitment to its social justice mission.
