In 2004, the School of Social Work formed a partnership with Cambodia's Royal University in Phnom Penh (RUPP) to build human capacity for social change. This innovative endeavor provided Cambodian social workers graduate-level training so that they could return home and staff their university’s first social work department. In May 2017, RUPP's Department of Social Work became the first higher education entity in Cambodia to receive accreditation from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities.

Today, the School in collaboration with the UW School of Medicine and RUPP, supports Partnering for Health, a program that focuses on integrating social work practices into medical care at two government-run hospitals in the capital city of Phnom Penh.
