“Voices and Faces of Recovery,” an exhibit from the Safe Place Writers’ Circle at the Recovery Café, is now on view at the School of Social Work’s first floor gallery. The exhibit continues through March 13.

The show features stories and poems written by members of the Safe Place Writers’ Circle, which provides a forum for individuals to write about themselves and their experiences. Circle participants gather for two hours every Friday, writing from prompts and gathering feedback from those in the group. The activity helps them articulate their beliefs and hopes and is part of a process to help them heal. Group facilitators are Anna Balint and Anne Frantilla.

Recovery Café cosponsored the exhibit with the School of Social Work. Founded in 2003, Recovery Café works with men and women traumatized by homelessness, addiction and other mental health challenges. The programming and services Recovery Café provides help build a holistic, person-centered system of care that prepares individuals for a lifetime of managing their disease while working to reach their full potential.
