Joanna La Torre Wins 2024 GADE Student Award for Teaching

We are thrilled to announce that the Group of Advancement for Doctoral Education in Social Work (GADE) presented Joanna La Torre, a fifth-year Ph.D. student at the School of Social Work, with the 2024 GADE Student Award for Teaching in Social Work. This prestigious honor recognizes doctoral students who have demonstrated exceptional creativity, effectiveness and impact as social work educators.

This award is a testament to Joanna’s hard work, passion for teaching and unwavering dedication to empowering students with the knowledge and tools needed to serve and advocate for communities in need. The School of Social Work is proud to have such a talented scholar and educator representing our program at the national level.

Joanna will be formally recognized during the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) conference in Kansas City, Missouri, at the GADE-CSWE Doctoral Student Networking Breakfast on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 7:30-8:30 am. We look forward to celebrating this incredible accomplishment with her and all of the other awardees.
