Rona Levy elected to Washington State Academy of Sciences

July 24, 2025

The UW School of Social Work is excited to announce that Professor and Associate Dean for Research Rona Levy has been elected to the Washington State Academy of Sciences (WSAS).

WSAS members are nationally recognized for their scientific and technical expertise and are selected for their “outstanding record of scientific and technical achievement and willingness to assist the Academy in providing the best available scientific information and technical understanding to inform complex policy decisions in Washington.” New members are elected by current WSAS members or by their election to national science academies.

Dr. Levy is recognized for her “contributions to understanding psychosocial and physiological factors that moderate the effectiveness of their interventions and ultimately improve the health of children with abdominal pain disorders” and is among 36 scientists and educators across the state, 12 of which are University of Washington faculty, announced on July 17 as new members.
