Associate Teaching Professor

Office of Field Education

MSW, Washington University in St. Louis

Aida Wells, MSW, is an accomplished clinical social worker and educator whose professional trajectory reflects a longstanding commitment to advancing culturally responsive health and mental health practice through both direct service and academic leadership.

Ms. Wells is a bilingual and bicultural clinician with over 25 years of experience in healthcare, spanning diverse clinical settings. Her work has focused on multigenerational health, mental health, and the reduction of healthcare disparities. At Seattle Children’s Hospital, she was the first bilingual and bicultural medical social worker hired, where she played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the patient navigator program—an initiative designed to enhance engagement and retention among underserved Latino patients and families.

In addition to her ongoing clinical practice as a grief and bereavement clinician, Ms. Wells has made significant contributions to social work education. She currently serves as an Associate Teaching Professor in the Office of Field Education and leads the Social Work Practice with Latinx Communities traineeship. In this role, she mentors and supports MSW students who are committed to serving Latino communities through culturally attuned social work practice.

Ms. Wells earned her Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington. She has been a valued member of the UW School of Social Work faculty since 2014 and has been recognized for her leadership in developing and coordinating the Latinx Communities traineeship.

Ms. Wells exemplifies the integration of clinical excellence, cultural humility, and pedagogical innovation in social work education and practice.
