Kaipeng Wang

Associate Professor

Healthy Generations Center

Kaipeng Wang is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Washington. His research examines health disparities and mental health among older adults and diverse populations, including ethnically minoritized and immigrant communities. Dr. Wang’s work addresses issues such as end-of-life care planning, cognitive health, and social determinants of health, with the goal of improving health equity and quality of life for aging populations.

Dr. Wang’s commitment to advancing health equity and aging research grew from his interdisciplinary training in social work and public health and his experience working with immigrant communities. He has served as Principal Investigator (PI) or sub-award PI on several research projects funded by the National Institute on Aging, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, and the Next50 Foundation. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles, with work appearing in leading journals such as The Journals of Gerontology, Series B and Journal of the American Medical Directors Association. He has served on editorial boards for Innovation in Aging and BMC Geriatrics.

Dr. Wang has taught courses on research methods, program development and evaluation, and statistical analysis and is a Faculty Affiliate at the Healthy Generations Center.

Prior to joining UW, Dr. Wang was a faculty member at the University of Denver and Texas State University. He earned his PhD from Boston College, MSW from the University of South Carolina, and MAS from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
