MA, University of Arizona
Lisette Austin has a long history at the University of Washington, having worked for several research institutions including the Fetal Alcohol & Drug Unit (FADU), the former Addictive Behaviors Research Center (ABRC), and the Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute (ADAI). From 2006-2019 she was the project coordinator for the Healing of the Canoe (HOC) project, a collaboration between the Suquamish Tribe, Port Gamble S’Kallam Tribe and ADAI. HOC developed, implemented, evaluated, and disseminated a community driven, culturally tailored, substance abuse and mental health intervention program for tribal youth.
Lisette joined Partners for Our Children with extensive communications experience. She was a freelance writer and editor for over a decade and worked for Seattle Children’s hospital as a communications specialist. Most recently, she worked as a web information specialist for EthnoMed, a UW Medicine program that provides cultural information and translated patient materials for health care providers working with immigrant and refugee populations. Lisette is also a freelance WordPress web designer, and accomplished podcaster. She lives in the Seattle area with her husband and son, and spends her free time traveling, writing, or doing genealogy.
