Morgan Wells

Morgan grew up in Houston, Texas, and earned a Bachelor of Arts Liberal Arts in Psychology from Wellesley College in 2003. She earned her Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Simmons University in 2006 and immediately returned home, where she got her start working with families displaced by Hurricanes Rita and Katrina. Morgan has been a member of the Field Faculty since the fall of 2019 and has served as a Field Instructor to 20 social work students across 5 schools of social work. In her 16 years of practice experience Morgan worked in Head Start, K-5 school-based mental health, youth development, kinship care and nonprofit capacity-building. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Child Mental Health Specialist in the State of Washington. She built the school’s first course on play therapy and enjoys lecturing on this topic around the region. Her primary scholarly interests are early childhood mental health, and transforming our practices in social work education to better align with our ethics and values as community practitioners, including reducing barriers to access for graduate training in clinical social work. She lives in the South End with her writer wife, artist mother, teen sons, two dogs and two cats.
