Remi Larson

Remi Larson, LCSW, CHES (xe/they/elle) is a health equity scholar whose work lies at the intersection of social work and public health. Remi earned a BA in Study of Religion and BS in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics from UCLA. Xe received xyr MSW in Adult Mental Health and Wellness from the University of Southern California where xe also completed a certificate in LGBTQ+ Affirmative Care. Remi later went on to pursue an MPH in Community Health Education and a certificate in LGBTQ+ Health Equity from CSU Northridge. Xyr clinical work has spanned all levels of psychiatric care—from inpatient to PHP/IOP to outpatient—and has focused on serving the queer and trans communities. Remi’s past research addressed issues related to minority stress and behavioral health outcomes among LGBTQIA2S+ youth, suicide among sexual and gender minority adults, and HIV among men who have sex with men with histories of childhood sexual abuse. During xyr studies, Remi conducted xyr own research project on antiretroviral therapy adherence and viral suppression among HIV-positive transgender and gender diverse adults and developed a chronic disease self-management group to increase engagement in HIV care in this community. Broadly speaking, Remi’s research interests center on health disparities in the LGBTQIA2S+ community with a special focus on the experiences of transgender and gender diverse individuals.
