This study investigates the long-term effects of the Communities That Care (CTC) prevention system on young adult substance use and misuse; crime, violence, and incarceration; HIV/AIDS sexual risk behaviors; sexually transmitted infections (STIs); depression; and educational attainment 11 and 13 years following CTC's initial installation in a randomized trial. A second aim of the study is to examine the transition to adulthood and associated health-risking behaviors in a panel of youth from small and rural towns who were followed in the randomized trial since 5th grade. The goal of the study is! to demonstrate the extent to which the Communities That Care (CTC) prevention system contributes to long-term individual and public health.
