Margaret Kuklinski, director of the School of Social Work’s Social Development Research Group (SDRG), will present a lecture May 25, 2023, at the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, part of the National Institutes of Health. Her presentation, “Unleashing the Power of Prevention to Enhance Well-Being Across the Lifespan,” is free and open to the public and will be livestreamed. The presentation begins at 12 noon, Eastern time.
Margaret’s talk will focus on her research in promoting positive developmental outcomes and preventing drug use and antisocial behavior through community-based and family-focused intervention. She’ll trace the evolution of prevention science, share the latest findings from longitudinal intervention studies based on SDRG’s Social Development Strategy, and discuss ways to increase equity while expanding the reach and impact of effective health promotion and prevention approaches.
Her presentation draws on the design, testing and dissemination of effective prevention interventions conducted by SDRG researchers over the past 40 years. Some of these interventions have produced outcomes that have persisted for decades and across generations.
Margaret joined SDRG in 2010 where her research focuses on demonstrating the long-term impact of science-based prevention interventions; partnering with service systems to implement and scale them; and building policy support by demonstrating benefits and costs. She holds a PhD and MA in clinical and community psychology from the University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Harvard University.
