*Office of Admissions Operating Virtually / Reponse to COVID-19

Until further notice, our Admissions team is accessible on a remote basis only; although we're working from off-campus, we're here for you and eager to help.  We anticipate returning to our regular in-person format when Washington's stay-at-home order has been lifted.  We encourage prospective students to contact SSW Admissions via email at sswinfo@uw.edu with any concerns or questions, and to schedule a Zoom or phone advising appointment. Prospective MSW students can register for upcoming online MSW information sessions.

Thursday drop-in advising hours are cancelled until further notice; we hope to resume those soon. Your well-being and the health of our greater SSW community are of the utmost importance to us, and we apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.  The University of Washington continues to take appropriate action in response to COVID-19; see the official UW coronavirus website for updates and an FAQ. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Sincerely,
SSW Office of Admissions

Welcome! We invite you to explore our recruitment events calendar, or to complete the Connect With Us form to be added to our prospective student mailing list. We send occasional e-mails about application launches and approaching deadlines, campus resources, newsletters and updates of interest to prospective students.  If you have questions about MSW or BASW programs or admission, you can e-mail us or call 206-543-5676. Prospective PhD students should contact sswphdpr@uw.edu or call 206-685-1680.

Office Location and Hours

We are located in Room 023 on the ground floor of the School of Social Work building. With the exception of university holidays and a few special dates per year, our office is open Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters.  During academic breaks and summer quarter, the office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays with a closure from 12-1 daily.

Advising, Drop-in Hours, Information Sessions and Events:

We ask you to please call to schedule an appointment, unless you join us for drop-in advising hours.

  • BASW & MSW drop-in advising (no appointment necessary): most Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
  • Call 206-543-5676 to schedule an advising appointment for a different day/time
  • Explore our events calendar to see upcoming info sessions, webinars, and events. We offer prospective student information sessions (on-campus and online) throughout the year, and also travel locally and nationally to attend college fairs and community events.
  • BASW advising, every Thursday in April from 2:00-4:00 PM: Nicole Guenther, Assistant Director of the BASW program, has dedicated 2:00-4:00 p.m. advising hours to meet virtually with prospective students via Zoom. E-mail Nicole to setup a Zoom meeting (other days/times may work too).

We are committed to serving a diverse student body. Underrepresented applicants including veterans, students of color, individuals with disabilities, first generation college scholars, undocumented students and anyone interested in our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion are invited to contact our two Student Information Specialist ambassadors, who are also current MSW students. They look forward to meeting you and welcome your questions about classes, student life, diversity, housing, Seattle, the application process, funding, why they love UW, and more.
