Rafaela Steen is a School Mental Health Specialist with Forefront in Schools supporting programing focused on comprehensive suicide prevention across the K-12 sector in Washington State. She has two decades of experience working in various roles within educational settings engaging with youth, staff, families and community partners. Rafaela is passionate about building and sustaining school systems that honor and support the social, emotional, mental health and well-being of its members.

Jay Fulcher

Jay Fulcher is a fiscal tech for The Alliance.

Prior to joining the organization, he was a document specialist for the Swedish Billing Dept, a financial guardian, VA Custodian, and non-profit bookkeeper. 

He is certified in QuickBooks and Epic, has advanced Excel skills and is meticulous by nature.  He collaborates smoothly with coworkers and supports a positive work environment. 

He completed a Fine Arts degree at the University of Texas at Austin.

Jay is an avid cyclist with a passion for antiquity, human evolution, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.

Katherine Painter

Katherine Painter

Katherine Painter joined the Forefront Suicide Prevention team as a Training Program Specialist in October 2022. She received her MSW from Washington University in St. Louis with a concentration in clinical gerontology and BAs in Psychology and English from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. After moving to Seattle in 2014, Katherine has worked for organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association Washington State Chapter, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and the University of Washington’s School of Pharmacy.

Nick Klein

Born and raised in Kennewick, WA, Nick received his Masters in Social Work from Eastern Washington University.  He comes to Forefront Suicide Prevention after living in Washington,DC since 2009 where he worked on a successful Presidential campaign and for the National Association of Social Workers.  He has extensive visual communications experience serving clients in the nonprofit, corporate, and academic sectors with his photography and video editing company.

Zoe Tapp

Zoe is the Administrative Assistant at Forefront; she supports the training department, Forefront in the Schools, and Operations. Zoe graduated from the University of Washington, School of Public Health, Community-Oriented Public Health Practice program with a Master’s degree in June 2021. Most of her work in graduate school centered on service with a strong focus on social justice. Zoe conducted my capstone project with SHARE/WHEEL, a local homelessness organization in Seattle helping them identify and map vacant property that could be used to provide shelter services.

Miriam Sosa

Miriam Sosa is a data wrangler and information manager, helping share data across the Alliance and capture the essential work done for children and families in the state of Washington. She also works to clean, analyze, and visualize data to monitor key performance indicators.

Sherling DiGioia

Sherling DiGioia

Sherling DiGioia is the program finance manager at the Alliance. In her position she oversees the budget, reporting and contracting functions, as well as state and university funds. She has the integral responsibility of reporting and counseling senior management on financial matters. She is also responsible for mentoring, training and supervising a growing team.
